Zivni vs FieldAssist vs BeatRoute: An Honest Comparison from Someone Who Built One
Look, I know how this reads. Founder of Zivni writes comparison post about Zivni. Shocking conclusion follows.
So let me flip the script. I'll tell you exactly when FieldAssist is the better choice, when BeatRoute wins, and when Zivni makes sense. I've sat across the table from customers who chose one of the other two after evaluating us, and honestly, sometimes they made the right call for their situation.
Let's get into it.
The three platforms in one paragraph each
FieldAssist is the incumbent in India and has been pushing hard into the Middle East for the last four or five years. They've got scale — I think they're serving something like 600+ brands last I checked. Strong in analytics, deep integrations with SAP, and if you're a large enterprise FMCG with 2,000+ reps and complex distributor hierarchies, they know that world well. Downside: pricing gets steep, and the product can feel heavy if you're a mid-sized brand.
BeatRoute built its reputation around beat planning and route optimization (the name kind of gives it away). They've pushed into AI-assisted selling recently and have decent traction across South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. Their UI got a major refresh a couple years back and it shows. Their weakness, from what I hear from customers who switched to us, is that customization can get expensive and their support in GCC time zones is inconsistent.
Zivni — that's us. We built the platform because I kept seeing distributors in Dubai, Riyadh, and Karachi struggling with tools designed for a different market. Voice order entry in Arabic and Urdu. AI shelf analysis that actually works with regional SKUs. Pricing that starts at $5 per user per month with modular add-ons so you don't pay for stuff you won't use. We're smaller than the other two. That's a con and a pro depending on what you need.
Where each one actually wins
Here's the thing nobody tells you when you're evaluating field sales software — the feature checklists are 90% identical. Everyone has beat planning. Everyone has GPS attendance. Everyone claims AI. The real differences show up in three places: implementation speed, support responsiveness, and how the product behaves when your reps have 2 bars of signal in a market like Deira or Saddar.
Pick FieldAssist if: You're a large multinational with 1,500+ users, you already run SAP or Oracle at the core, and you need someone who's done this exact deployment 40 times before. Their playbook is solid. You'll pay for it — expect $12-18 per user per month once add-ons stack up — but you get a mature product.
Pick BeatRoute if: Your primary pain is route planning complexity. Multiple SKUs per outlet, tight delivery windows, and you want strong optimization algorithms. Their beat scheduling logic is genuinely good. Just budget carefully for customization work, because the out-of-the-box config might not fit a distributor with 47 unique route patterns.
Pick Zivni if: You're a mid-market FMCG or distributor (say, 20 to 800 reps), you operate across GCC, South Asia, UK, or US, and you want something that ships fast without a six-month implementation. Also if you care about voice order entry in local languages — we invested heavily there because I watched a rep in Sharjah try to type an order for 34 SKUs on a 5-inch screen while standing in a grocery. That's not a workflow. That's punishment.
We also do modular pricing which the other two don't really do well. If you don't need gamification, don't pay for it. If shelf photo AI isn't your priority yet, add it later. FieldAssist and BeatRoute tend to bundle.
The honest stuff most comparison posts skip
I got the positioning wrong at first. Early on I told prospects Zivni was "better" than FieldAssist. That's dumb. Better at what, for whom? A 3,000-rep Unilever distributor in Egypt has completely different needs than a 40-rep chocolate brand in Manchester.
What I say now is this: we're faster to deploy (average go-live is 18 days for us vs. 60-90 for enterprise players), we're cheaper for mid-market, and our support actually answers on WhatsApp within an hour in GCC and Pakistan hours. That's it. Those are the honest differentiators. We're not going to out-analytics FieldAssist on day one, and we're not going to out-route-optimize BeatRoute for a super complex multi-echelon distribution network.
But for maybe 70% of FMCG companies I talk to, those enterprise features are overkill. They just want their reps to show up on time, place orders without errors, and give the sales manager a dashboard that doesn't require a PhD to read.
A quick framework for deciding
Ask yourself three questions before you sign anything:
- How fast do I need to be live? If the answer is "yesterday," enterprise platforms will frustrate you. Their implementation cycles are real.
- What's my rep-to-IT-person ratio? If you don't have a dedicated IT team babysitting the rollout, you need a platform with strong hand-holding. Ask specifically how many implementation specialists you'll get.
- Where are my reps physically? If they're in markets with patchy connectivity — most of Pakistan, parts of Saudi outside major cities, rural UK — test the offline mode aggressively before signing. All three of us claim offline support. The quality varies.
And please, for the love of everything, do a two-week pilot with real reps in a real market before committing. Not a demo. Not a sandbox. A pilot with 5-10 actual field reps placing actual orders. That's the only way you'll know.
If you want to run a pilot with us, the door's open — zivni.com, or just email me. If FieldAssist or BeatRoute is the right fit for you after that pilot, I'd genuinely rather you go with them than sign up with us and be unhappy six months in. Field sales software is a multi-year commitment. Get it right the first time.
What's the deal-breaker feature for you? That's usually where these decisions actually turn.
